Building upon the two testimonies of the Shahaadah, students are introduced to the elements of faith. They increase their knowledge of the Qur’an through memorization and recitation of Soorat al-Burooj through Soorat Ash-Sharh with short explanations for each soorah. They learn additional characteristics of Prophet Muhammad (s) as well as the obligatory aspects of ablution. Practical lessons in the performance of prayer, as well as the appropriate number of rak’aat for each salah, are integral components of this grade. Students are also taught to respect the rights and property of their family, teachers, and others. The material is presented, using a spiral approach, where students revisit each area and study it in greater depth each year. The Student’s Textbook contains the subject text of the lessons, exercises as well as activities.
By the end of the year the student should be able to:
Recall the Shahadah in Arabic and realize its meaning and virtues.
Have a good idea about the 6 pillars of Iman.
Realize the benefits of reading the Qur’aan and reflecting on it. Memorizing 10 short soorahs.
Express Loving Allah عزّ وجلّ and His Prophet Mohammad صلّى الله عليه وسلَم .
Realize the importance of being truthful and trustworthy.
Have an idea about the Islamic History. The story of the Ka`bah, the story of the elephant; The ka`bah and the muslim unity.
Identify Salah, its manners, its khosoo`, performing wudoo` and facing the qiblah.
How to perform each Salah and what to say at every step.
Enumerate The virtues of remembering Allah.
Recall Various Du`aa:
Du`aa ‘ for leaving and entering the house
Du`aa’ for leaving and entering the toilet
The virtues of Athkaar.
Display Good manners such as : what to say when you sneeze, being good to teachers and friends, taking care of personal belongings and public belongings.
